Simulation of propeller blade with swirl recovery vanes

Objective: To perform simulation of a propeller with downstream swirl recovery vanes

Challenges: To model and mesh propeller blade with swirl recovery vanes in Ansys workbench and provide appropriate interfaces.

Details: Task was to perform full CFD simulation of a standalone propeller blade with swirl recovery vanes. Downstream swirl recovery vanes are particularly used to convert the tangential momentum of flow to axial thrust without much loss in efficiency. Hence a suitable design was adapted for this purpose and simulated for design condition.

Results: Simulated propeller CFD analysis with downstream vanes and compared performance with and without swirl recovery vanes
