Objective: The performance map of 74-A compressor generated from CFD code is validated using experiments conducted by NASA.
Challenges: Generating the model for axial compressor.
Details: The flow path is generated from the points given in the NASA research paper and the blades are generated. Performance map and efficiency map are generated for 100% speed. The process is repeated for 80% speed.
Results: The performance and efficiency map are plotted against experiment. CFD results for 80% speed are comparable with experiments (4.5% error). However CFD results for 100% speed are under predicted by more than 5%.
