Scanning, reverse engineering, model generation and CFD analysis of two stage axial turbine

Objective: To generate cad model from 3D cloud point data, create CFD model and evaluate performance at design operating condition.

Challenges: To generate cad models from could point data and create CFD model for performance evaluation

Details: Blade scan data input was provided for completed performance evaluation of two stage axial turbine. Cad model was generated meticulously from could point data and assembled with flow path location with appropriate axial and radial clearances. Further, mesh input profiles were extracted from CAD model and CFD mesh was generated.  Analysis was carried out at design and off-design condition using the input data provided. Complete performance of turbine stage was generated from detailed CFD studies.

Results: Evaluated two stage axial turbine performance results from CFD analysis results.
