
Objective: To model and simulate axial turbine stage with purge cooling passage in hub surface
Challenges: Modelling separate cooling passage domain in turbine flow path hub surface and providing interface
Details: Client had a requirement of evaluating performance of axial turbine with cooling passage through hub surface into the flow domain. A separate cooling passage was modelled considering the mass flow rate and pressure conditions in the purge flow. Interface condition was successfully provided and simulation was carried out. Variation in flow efficiency was tabulated between with and without purge cases.
