Objective: To generate hexahedral mesh for oil cooled fins and complete heat transfer simulation using conjugate heat transfer analysis.
Challenges: Adapting special strategies to generate hexahedral mesh for complex cooling fins and perform thermal simulation with internal oil flow and external airflow
Details: Oil cooled heat exchanger fins are used electrical transformers for cooling purpose. Model consisted three configuration radiators and a complex cooling fin arrangement. Mesh was generated for fin blocks and duplicated. Simulation was later performed for baseline configuration. Evaluated the performance of three configurations and best configuration was chosen based on heat transfer results.
Results: Completed meshing and heat transfer simulation of all three cooling fin configuration and compared the results.
